Working towards sustainable development

Sustainable development is "a development which satisfies the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy theirs" according to the 1987 Brundtland report.
 
This notion is applicable to all private or public players and citizens on the planet. It aims to reconcile the 3 objectives of economic efficiency, social equity, and preservation of the environment, in accordance with the following representation:


Sustainable development

Community responsibility is the expression of the principles of sustainable development at the company level.
 
For the company, beyond complying with the legal framework, it involves further commitment in human capital, the environment and relations with its stakeholders, as represented below. The company thus ensures its sustainability by taking into account the environmental and social expectations of the markets, the territories and the employees.

In the short term, the approach enables companies to position themselves, to differentiate, and to improve their competitiveness. In the long term, it constitutes a means of redefining the company strategy.
 
The approach is voluntary, progressive and intended to last, in accordance with a philosophy of continuous improvement. After completing a review including identification of the stakes and the stakeholders, a policy and a plan of action are elaborated, implemented and monitored.
 
According to whether the company wishes to begin, to progress or to position itself, flash evaluation tools, complete sustainable development management systems, and evaluation systems can be provided.
