Non-Destructive Testing

Digitised X-ray

Non-destructive testing is intended to check the internal and surface condition of parts.

CTIF uses four Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods applied to castings: Radiography, Ultrasonic scan, Dye-penetrant crack detection, Electromagnetic crack detection. Our inspection staff are COFREND approved for foundry activities.

Its high level of NDT inspection (level 3 inspectors for each method) is at your service to:
  • Inspect your parts
  • Train your own inspectors
  • Elaborate your procedures
  • Undertake the acceptance of your parts
  • Resolve customer/supplier disputes

Fluorescent dye crack detection

On the strength of our experience in NDT methods applied to metal casting, we take particular care in writing up our inspection reports, most often illustrated with diagrams showing the locations of any indications. The interpretations are made by comparison with ASTM standard images.

NDT testing is performed following an estimate based on a drawing of the parts indicating the zones to be inspected. The cost is dependent on the nature of the materials, the range of thicknesses, the surfaces to be examined and the number of parts concerned.
